Metal tile roof calculator: materials calculation

Metal tile roof calculation over spaced battens: sheets, battens, roofing screws, underlay membrane, ridge and valleys — plus tools.

What is a metal tile roof

Metal tile is a profiled steel sheet with a polymer coating. It is laid on spaced board battens over counter battens along the rafters and a roofing membrane. The counter battens leave a vent gap that carries moisture out from under the sheets.

The calculator works out membrane, battens and boards, nails, sheets, roofing screws and sealant for the roof area, plus flashings and crew tools.

How consumption is calculated

Rates follow the Russian estimating standard GESN 12-01-020-01, converted to 1 m² of slope. Sheets need 1.26 m² per 1 m² of roof: sheets are cut by the profile step, and on hip roofs waste reaches a third. Membrane — 1.16 m² with laps, roofing screws — 10 pcs (manufacturers state 6–8).

Ridge, valleys, eaves and rake flashings, filler and snow guards depend on the length of the ridge, valleys and edges rather than the slope area. They stay at zero in the request — enter the length manually.

Materials are the rate per 1 m² multiplied by the stage area. Tools are counted per crew unit and multiplied by the number of units.
